The SBI Clerk: 

The SBI Clerk (Junior Associates) is working as the Single Window Operator (SWO) and they have been playing a major role in looking after the day-to-day activities of the bank. More specifically, the SBI Clerks are responsible for client-related operations and interactions. After joining, the SBI Clerk will be designated as the depositors, cashiers, and the other posts. SBI Junior Associates will be the first point of contact for guidance and inquiries. SBI Clerk Job Profile: 

The works of an SBI Clerk include front desk work as well as customer handling operations. The Junior Associates will be trained, so that they can manage the inquiry of the customers, can solve the withdrawal-related queries, and can manage the receipts, etc. Go through the following content to know more about the SBI Clerk job profile:

  1. The SBI Clerks are responsible to open the bank accounts, looking after the transactions related to the NEFT/RTGS,
  2. issuing demand drafts, issuing bank statements, transferring amounts through several payment modes, handling cheque book requests,

  4. Also assisting the consumers in their documentation of work.
  5. Ahe SBI Clerks will also have to perform general office-related tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and copying.
  6. Need to complete the necessary paperwork for paying vendor invoices.

SBI Clerk Role and Duties

Single Window Operator (SWO):

Go through the below-mentioned job roles performed by the SWO, for which they will be paid special allowances:

  1. Acknowledge when the inward emails are received.
  2. Giving acknowledgment in the counterfoil like the receipt of cheques, dividend warrants, paying of orders, drafts, etc.
  3. Delivery of the cheque books to the authorization by the competent authority.
  4. Issuing the cash receipts.
  5. Recounting the currency notes by the subordinates of the cash department.
  6. Pass independently the clearing and transfer cheques and vouchers (either it is credit or debit).
  7. Receipts of cash as well as the issuance of pre-signed drafts/ gift cheques/ pay order/ bank order/travelers’ cheques etc.

Head Cashier (HC):

The duty of the HC is to involve the bank’s cash or other valuables in safe custody jointly with the officer. The HC is also responsible to run the cash department.
  1. Verification of endorsements/ vernacular signatures.
  2. Countersigning cheques/ drafts (on correspondence or selves), deposit reaccepts, payment orders, etc.
  3. Attend the Government Treasury work.
  4. In cleaning and transferring the cheques, the HCs are in charge.
  5. Pass independently the clearing and transfer cheques and vouchers (either it is credit or debit) and also cash vouchers.
Special Assistants (SA):

The Special Assistants are responsible to check the work of the other clerks and sub-staff. Here in the following, the working category of the Special Assistant has been highlighted:

  1. Pass independently, manually the clearing and transfer cheques and vouchers (either it is credit or debit).
  2. Checking manually or online the savings and current accounts.
  3. Signing the vouchers, drafts, mail transfers, cheques, pay orders, advices such as inter-branch fate calling advices, demand notices, bill schedules, statement certificates, etc.
  4. SA explains the features of banks’ several products and services to the consumers and also replies to their queries.
Universal Teller (UT):

The duties of the Universal Teller has been highlighted in the following:

  1. Receives cheques/ demand drafts/ withdrawal forms/ banker’s cheques, process and then verify the instrument, whether it is correctly drawn or not. Apart from that, the UT also verifies the customers’ account details.
  2. Verify the signature of the consumers, post transactions in the branch computer system, and authenticate/independently pass the payment of cheques/ demand drafts/ withdrawal forms/ banker’s cheques.
  3. Receive Cash and issue counter slips/acknowledgments.
  4. Update the passbooks.
  5. Print and issue the remittance instruments.
  6. Briefly explain the features of the Bank’s several products and services to the consumers, reply to their queries.
Agricultural Assistants:

The roles and responsibilities of the Agricultural Assistants have been discussed in the following:

  1. To assist in the banking lending/ operations for agricultural development and for financial assistance to the small scale firms (other than the small scale industries). For instance, small-scale firms like fruit vendors, self-employed persons, vegetables, artisans, etc.
  2. To provide the application forms to the small farmers/ borrowers and assist them in filling the application form.
  3. Scrutinize the farm plans and application forms.
  4. To ensure the periodical details since the farmers/ small borrowers will be called for a specific time interval.
  5. To verify the farms’ machinery, tractors, pump sets, equipment, live stocks at stipulated intervals.
  6. To assist in the deposit mobilization efforts by encouraging the small borrowers/ farmers.
  7. The Agricultural Assistants are aware of the information about the condition of the crops in the village.
  8. For maintaining liaison with land record and registration offices and other Developmental agencies for the handling of the banking works.
